Reliable Thermal Insulation for Temperature Sensitive Products

Temperature controlled packaging is imperative for items where an increase or decrease in temperature would negatively effect the freshness, quality or safety of the product. This could apply to food, medical supplies, water samples or even human organs for transplant. Without a reliable thermal insulator food stuffs will ruin and other items may become harmful or unusable. It is during transit that items are at most risk of spoiling, but by using one of our packaging solutions perishables can be protected from thermal shock and will arrive safely at their destination. Material thermal properties

This is why Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Boxes are the first choice for the food industry and why Expanded Polypropylene (EPP) Boxes are the no.1 choice for any reusable application.

Polystyrene and EPP boxes both have an extremely low rate of thermal conductivity helping you to adhere to strict regulations and requirements and conform to your own high packaging standards.

Put simply, thermal conductivity is a measure of how much heat is lost / transferred by a material. So the chart shows that Polystyrene and Polypropylene have a very low value at 0.035 which makes them excellent insulating materials in comparison to their cardboard counterparts!

Using an EPS or EPP box be assured that:

  • an item can maintain a temperature irrespective of the external surroundings
  • contents of a box are protected from sudden temperature variations
  • you can maximise your delivery times and guarantee produce arrives as fresh as the day it was packed
  • if used with ice sheets or gel packs you can keep your product well under 5°C for as long as 48 hours
